The Deadly Tea is the fourth in the Invisibles series by Rachel Dacus. They can be read as standalone, however. The series begins when two sisters, Saffron and Elinor inherit a house, on the western coast of Italy, which is haunted by the ghost of Percy Bysshe Shelley. This sets up a relationship between the two sisters and the ghost. Saffron realizes that not only can she communicate with the dead, but her life’s work is to guide invisibles or ghosts to their new home in the afterlife.
In The Deadly Tea, Saffron has settled in Notting Hill with her husband. Lucas Troy is murdered by an unknown person. He doesn’t want Saffron to guide him forward. Instead, he asks that she find his murder so he can get justice. Against her better judgment, she agrees. What she doesn’t bargain for is her life—and those of her children—being threatened.
This is a cute cozy mystery with a good sense of place in its setting of Notting Hill and characters, even the ghost of Lucas Troy, are relatable. I look forward to reading more in the series.
